Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Beginning in 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American families and businesses saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. Each Pella® product meets or exceeds ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. How will this affect you? Not only might your notice a drop with your heating and cooling bill, you will help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are all specifically designed and made-to-order for your home, meaning no two projects are alike. Our broad spectrum of products make it hard to discuss pricing without first considering your needs, wants and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it useful to send out a Pella sales representative who can give you a quoted project price after seeing the project site itself. To accelerate the quoting procedure, your Pella® sales representative is prepared with a computer and a portable printer so that they can give you all the quote information you’ll need—as soon as the sales representative has been given the opportunity to consider the requirements of the project and matches them with your vision.

In addition to offering a large variety of first-rate products to select from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you excellent window and door products at affordable prices, offering you a chance to make the home improvements you want to while building great value into your Boise area home all the while.

Can I paint my vinyl windows?

The beauty of Pella's® vinyl windows is that you won’t have to. The windows can be customize to the color your want. We do not advise painting your vinyl products, as this will end your warranty. Some paint manufacturers say that their paint can adhere to vinyl, but it could ruin your windows if the wrong paint is applied or done incorrectly.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We suggest that you clean them with a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning mix or use an ammonia-free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. You can also mix your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Put the solution on a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. Do not use glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based because they could form streaks or create a film that draws moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses contract installers who are certified to install Pella products. They are required to complete a rigid set of training courses so that your windows and doors are installed properly and meet Pella’s strict warranty criteria. We look for the best Boise-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Before we hire anyone, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are fully protected by liability and workers compensation insurance. In addition to Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Your Boise Pella branch offers services and support that “big box” stores can’t perform. Our experts are highly-trained in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Working with a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and expert installers means that your project will have the strength of our whole team. We frequently use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. You can easily contact your sales representative or our main office if you have any concerns and we will get to work resolving the issue.
